Oakland Park’s super-consistent stable star was too good again at Belmont on Saturday, this time taking out the Listed $100,000 Farnley Stakes.
Sent out a $1.30 favourite, jockey Clint Johnson-Porter bought up his 4th win in 5 rides on the 4YO son of Sessions.
Trainer Adam Durrant was glowing in praise after the race. “He has a great will-to-win and is at peak form after three straight Belmont wins in five weeks,” Durrant said. “This was his 11th race this time in and he continues to show toughness. Massimo has a wonderful character and temperament. Around the stable, he’s as casual as an old lead pony.”
Massimo will now head to the Goldfields where he will be very hard to beat in the $120,000 Hannans Handicap on October 1.
