A big week for Oakland Park Stud

A big week for Oakland Park Stud

What a week for Western Australia’s boutique thoroughbred nursery Oakland Park Stud.

Oakland Park bred horses have won some of Australia’s most prestigious races. On Thursday they added another one to the list winning the time honoured Grand Annual Steeplechase at Warrnambool with their 8YO gelding No Song No Supper. The Grand Annual Steeplechase is a gruelling 5500m and 33 jumps, a real test of stamina.

Wednesday at Belmont, the Oakland Park bred filly Jestajingle, by Lonhro out of the brilliant race mare Jestatune broke her maiden status winning by 1.75 lengths.

Thursday at Pinjarra, Oakland Park’s freshman sire Rogano picked up his second winner when the 2YO gelding Sandalwood won at his second start. Sandalwood is a half-brother to Oakland’s talented mare Blackwood.

Also on Thursday, the Oakland Park bred Annie’s Luck won.

On Saturday Rogano picked up his third winner, when the promising Hit Tune, a half-brother to Jestajingle, stormed home late to win the 2YO race at Belmont at his second race start. His debut run showed that he has a motor, running second beaten 0.8 of length to the smart filly Dainty Tess.

Neville and Susan Duncan could not be happier with Rogano’s start to his stud career. His record now stands at 3 winners, Ellens Choice (metropolitan level), Hit Tune (metropolitan level), Sandalwood and the place getter, Oregon Bronze, from only 6 runners.

Rogano is the full brother to champion sire Not A Single Doubt.

Then to top off the week, Oakland Park’s Viscount notched up a double at Belmont on Saturday with the win of Shinta Mani and Profit Street.

Viscount continues to knock up winners on a regular basis – he is the sire of 504 progeny to race for 287 winners, giving him a 56% winners to runners strike rate.
