A bold front-running performance by Oakland Park’s Cappo D’Oro set up his victory in the $100,000 Listed G.A. Towton Cup at Ascot on Saturday. Aided by a very good ride by visiting Victorian jockey Dean Yendall, Cappo D’Oro finally broke through for a deserved stakes win, having been placed at Group or Listed level on four other occasions.
Cappo D’Oro, a 6YO son of Medaglia D’Oro, out of the NZ bred mare Deep Time, is a half-brother to the Group 1 winning No Wine No Song, and Oakland Park’s No Song No Supper (12 wins) and Ready On Time (5 wins) as well as talented gallopers Atlantic Air and Lord Of The Song.
The win on Saturday took his record to 30 starts for 5 wins, 11 seconds and 2 thirds, with prize money and bonuses of $308,375.
Cappo D’Oro has been aimed for the $500,000 Group 2 Perth Cup on January 5 and based on his performance Saturday trainer Fred Kersley has him in the zone to give the race a real shake.
Congratulations to our partners.
