The Group 1 Golden Rose won in brilliant fashion by Darley’s boom three year old EXOSPHERE was a huge boost for Western Australia’s Oakland Park Stud on two fronts.
Exosphere took his record to a most impressive four wins from only six starts and earnings to over $850,000 in prizemoney when adding this stallion making race to his resume.
He won the Group II ATC Skyline Stakes as a two year old and the Group II ATC Run To The Rose at the start prior to his Golden Rose victory.
Exosphere is a son of Darley’s champion stallion Lonhro and he will surely find himself a home at Sheik Mohammed’s stud at the end of his racing career.
As evidenced by 11 Group 1 wins, an undisputed champion racehorse Lonhro has transferred his ability on the race track to his sons and daughters. He is now the son of over 55 stakes winners including the superstar Pierro and Group 1 winners Bounding, Mental, Denman and Benfica.
Lonhro is the sire of Oakland Park Stud’s sensational Group II winning sprinter Sessions who stands his debut season at stud this year.
Sessions had untapped ability as demonstrated when winning he Group II ATC The Shorts over 1100m. He is a stunning individual standing at 16.1hh and makes a great addition to the WA stallion ranks.
The other family connection in Exosphere’s win is that Oakland Park own his grandmother Highest who is a daughter of Marscay. Oakland Park have retained Highest’s two year old filly by Stratum named Mesosphere.
Highest has just foaled a magnificent Helmet colt and naturally she will be mated to Sessions this year to breed a close relation to Exosphere.
Sessions stands at Oakland Park Stud, please contact Neville Duncan on 0417 200 097.
