Group 2 success for Oakland Park bred Massimo

It was fantastic to see the Oakland Park bred Massimo, by our resident stallion, Sessions, take out the $250,000 Group 2 WAROA stakes at Ascot on Saturday. The team at Oakland Park are delighted for Chris and Michael Gangemi and partners who bought Massimo before this campaign via an online auction for $150,000.

Before Saturday, Massimo’s two runs for the new connections have seen him run second in the Group 3 Northerly Stakes and second in the Listed Black Hart Bart Stakes. His three runs this campaign has netted $200,000 for prizemoney for connections.

Massimo’s performances for his new connections shows buyers of Oakland Park progeny, whether tried horses or yearlings, can have confidence in their purchases.

Sessions made it a double for the day, with the Justine Erkelens trained 4YO gelding Big Screen notching up win number four from only twelve starts.

Big Screen is an excellent example of Sessions progeny; they continue to mature and develop into tough metropolitan class gallopers. This campaign has seen Big Screen win three races and two seconds from six starts. Saturday’s win saw him have to do it from both ends, jumping from a wide barrier, going to the front and contending with a strong headwind down the back and was still able to finish the race off, running a very sharp 1.35.55 for the 1600 metres.
