Happy Easter to our all our clients, friends and family. Although we live in troubling times, do your best to remain positive and stay safe.
Also, a big thank you to the racing fraternity for their diligence and commitment to the safety protocols so we can keep our industry operating.
Today at Ascot Oakland Park will be represented by Pushin’ Shapes, Catherine Wheel and Daishio.
Pushin’Shapes drops back from Listed level to a benchmark 78 + with apprentice Chris Graham on board, taking 3 kilograms off his allotted 63 kilogram impost. He has drawn awkwardly in barrier 10 for the 1600 metre race. Although he has finished well off the winners in his first two starts this campaign, if he can carry the weight, we expect a much-improved performance today.
The 4YO Rogano mare Catherine Wheel will go around in the benchmark 65 + over 1000 metres. She is two times winner over the distance and goes into the race off a last start sixth beaten 2.8 lengths on a soft track. It is a very competitive race, but we are looking for her to be around the finish.
Our final runner on the day is Daishio, who fronts up in the “get out stakes”, the last race of the day. A field of 16 will run in the benchmark 72 + over 1200 metres. Her form has been patchy this campaign, but it was pleasing to see her show improvement at her start finishing third at Pinjarra in class 3.
Good luck to our partners and let’s all enjoy and appreciate the fact we are still racing!
