Massimo breaks the $500K barrier and a double for his sire

Massimo, the 3YO son of Oakland Park’s resident stallion Sessions out of the Marscay mare Highest notched up his fifth win on Saturday at Belmont in the benchmark 78+ event over 1200 metres.

This win took his prize money and Westspeed bonuses to $523,180 from his 14 starts. His record stands at 5 wins and 6 seconds, and an impressive 78.5% top two finish statistic.

What a horse he has been for Oakland Park and Renee Durrant, sister of Massimo’s trainer Adam Durrant. You would love a stable of horses like him that run at 38% wins to runs ratio and 79% placed to runs ratio.

Massimo’s dam Highest died in 2018 but has a filly by Safeguard on the ground.

Massimo’s other winner on the day was the progressive 3YO filly Boomtastic.

Bombastic is a daughter of Xaar Boom, a talented racehorse in her own right who is by Oakland Park’s former stallion Xaar.

Boomtastic has returned this campaign in stellar form having won twice and placed twice from four runs. Her overall record stands at 14 starts for 4 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds. She has earned $270,390 in prize money and Westspeed bonuses.

Sessions has had 30 to race for 18 winners (60%). He will stand this season for the value price of $3,500 plus GST.
