Massimo, Oakland Park’s 3YO son of resident stallion Sessions led all the way on Saturday at Ascot to win the benchmark 66+ event over 1200 metres against the older horses.
Massimo was well rated by champion jockey William Pike out front. It was a surprise that he found himself in this position and was a credit to the horse that he was able to adapt given he is still very green. He had the opposition well covered and going away from them on the line.
Trainer Adam Durrant has a high opinion of this horse and will most likely target some of the 3YO stakes races over the summer carnival.
His record now stands at 4 starts for 2 wins, 1 second and has earned $191,200 in prize money and Westspeed bonuses.
Massimo’s win was the fourth for Sessions in the last 18 days.
