Congratulations to our partners in our 2YO filly Vexilloid who won on debut at Ascot on Saturday. Her win was the ninth individual winner for Oakland Park’s Rogano.
Her dam, Vexillum, a mare by Tiger Hill (IRE) out of Northern Banner (AUS) was also bred by Oakland Park. Vexilloid is her second foal, her first foal is also by Rogano, and she has a Sessions weanling on the ground and has been served again by Sessions.
Story from www.ozrace.com.au
Fred Kersley’s Easter just kept on getting better when after winning the Group 3 Sires Produce Stakes with Debellation on Friday, he produced two year old filly Vexilloid (Daniel Staeck) a first up winner in the Amelia Park Plate (1100m) at Ascot yesterday.
“I trained her dam Vexillum and this filly, her second foal, has the same nice nature as her mother. Vexilloid has been very professional in her attitude and has done everything right in her first preparation,” the trainer said.
Kersley added that he liked the way Vexilloid had kicked up well to lead, after 200m, despite not being overly quick out of the barrier.
In the home straight Vexilloid, a $5.90 chance, powered away to a comfortable victory over Vital Blast and Teacher’s Pet.
The favourite Foxy Princess ($3.30) was a bit tardy away and although jockey Glenn Smith had her sitting third, on the fence, on the turn she wilted in the final 50m to finish fifth.
Kersley said Vexilloid would have her next start in the next 2-3 weeks.
