Great to see another Oakland Park bred galloper salute he judge. At only his second race start, North Ridge, a son of Danehill Express out of the Fuji Kiskei mare Noreaster, won impressively at Ascot yesterday.
Perth Racing reports
The Fred Kersley trained North Ridge has won convincingly first up, with a 2.5 length victory over a competitive field of three year olds.
Having only one prior race back in October, North Ridge failed to get into proceedings, in what in hindsight is easily dismissed given today’s performance.
Given a dream run by star jockey William Pike, North Ridge kicked off the bend and looked the likely winner from some margin out. Race favourite Bomber Bay was caught too far back and was under heavy pressure but in a great indication of his natural talent, continued to grind with a very impressive finish into third, as Leonorasensation was good first up, claiming second.
North Ridge won in 1.12.12 and by 2.5 lengths, in a slowly run race.
