Oakland Park’s Roganella Guineas bound

Oakland Park’s Roganella Guineas bound

Another wonderful day for Oakland Park Stud yesterday.

Roganella, a son of our resident stallion Rogano was impressive coming from behind to win in a very strong field carrying 59.5 kilograms in the Lavazza Plate over 1400 metres beating Media Baron and State Prosecutor. Ridden a treat by Jarrod Noske, Roganella’s final 600 metres in 34.1 on soft ground was blistering.

Roganella has now won three races and been placed five times from his eleven starts. Trained by Dan Morton, the stable was confident of a bold showing, with stable foreman Vince Collica saying, “his work during the week was sensational, but we weren’t sure with a tricky gate”.

Roganella will go forward to the WA Guineas in two weeks.

And further afield in South Africa, Firdoas, from the mare Anwar purchased by Oakland Park Stud at the recent Inglis Broodmare sale in Sydney, won a 1400 metre stakes race.

Another Oakland Park Stud graduate, Derupt (Snitzel/Ready On Time), who was sold for $210,000 at last year’s Inglis Melbourne Premier sale, ran on from near last in the same race to finish in fourth place.
