Oakland Stallion Shoots a Group 1

Saturday was a special day for Oakland Park, with the win of the Dom To Shoot, by Oakland Park’s resident stallion Shooting To Win, in the Drummond Gold – Northerly Stakes, honouring our champion galloper.

Dom To Shoot proved too tough in the final stages to hold out four-time Group 1 winner Zaaki and talented three-year-old Zipaway.

Congratulations to owner-breeder Wally Daly, and trainers Sean and Jake Casey for a tremendous training effort to win their first Group 1, and finally, a centimetre-perfect ride by Jarrod Noske.

We look forward to the first of Shooting To Win’s Western Australian progeny to grace our tracks. Shooting to Win relocated to Oakland Park from Godolphin eighteen months ago. He is an exciting new addition to the local breeding scene. A Group 1 winner himself in the stallion-making MRC Caulfield Guineas, he is a full brother to leading sire Deep Field.

Shooting To Win’s record stands at 357 starters for 210 winners (58%), including 10 stakes winners, 12 stakes placed and over $24 million in prize money.

Shooting To Win will stand at Oakland Park Stud for $10,000 +GST for the 2023 breeding season.
