Patchwork Impresses on Debut
Oakland Park bred Patchwork (Helmet – Counterpane) was most impressive on debut at Geraldton on Thursday with jockey Jordan Turner weaving his way through traffic for a what ended up being a comfortable victory.
Starting a short priced favourite, the 3YO chestnut filly was settled back in the field under Turner, and looked to be in trouble still with 200m to go in the race.
With little room in front of her or the outside and winning post fast approaching, things were starting to look desperate, but within a blink of an eye a gap presented on the rail, and Patchwork duly let down to record an impressive 1.6L victory.
The win capped off a great day for trainer Martin Allen training a treble at the Midwest course.
