Saloon Bar Comes From the Clouds Again

Oakland Park 4YO Saloon Bar’s flair for the dramatic was once again on full display at Ascot on Saturday, with an incredible come from behind victory in the Lexus Of Perth Handicap (1200m).

Saloon Bar, by Oakland Park’s resident stallion Sessions, was allowed to find his feet towards the tail of the field again by jockey Chris Parnham and with a hot pace out in front, and a favourable racing pattern for the day, coming to the turn punters and connections alike would have been feeling confident.

But with 200m to go, Saloon Bar was still some 10 lengths off the leaders and the situation looked desperate, until the Dan Morton trained galloper produced his now customary devastating finish to grow wings and gun down the leaders to record an amazing victory.

Making the win all the more meritorious, was the time for the race was .2 seconds seconds faster then the previous race, the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes won by Overpass.

The win is Saloon Bar’s 4th victory from 17 starts and takes his career prizemoney over 215k.
